Is Complementary Alternative Medicine covered by Insurance?

CAM is generally NOT a covered service in most health insurance policies, including Medicare. Please check with my office before you come to see what portion of your visit is covered. Depending on your contracted coverage, the part of your visit that entails conventional care is most often covered by your health insurance plan, but CAM is usually not reimbursable. Payment for CAM services is your responsibility each time that you visit my office. This includes any part of the visit that involves Homeopathy, CAM nutritional diagnosis, treatment and/or advice and separately for laser, acupuncture, etc. Please see "What is CAM" for a full explanation of what CAM entails. Your copay does not cover CAM services. CAM fees vary with the time spent and/or modality used. I do my best to keep CAM fees reasonable and affordable. Please be aware that I frequently employ CAM for acute visits because it is often effective and safe when compared with conventional therapies.
